We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Manager with a strong background in the plastics or compounding industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing production resources to ensure that products are manufactured to the required quality, on time, and at optimal cost. The Operations Manager will also collaborate closely with various departments, oversee capital expenditure projects, and continuously drive improvements in productivity and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that sales forecasts and customers’ requirements and priorities for company products are effectively interpreted, and all production resources are planned, coordinated, managed, and utilized efficiently to meet customers’ needs and agreed stocking levels.
• Ensure that all appropriate production and engineering resources (plant, equipment, labor, services, and facilities) are available to meet short and medium-term business requirements.
• Ensure that all resources, processes, methods, and systems are reviewed, developed, and improved to reduce manufacturing costs, improve quality, and increase throughput to maintain the company’s manufacturing edge in the market.
• Ensure that all materials are cost-effectively processed and utilized to optimize product yield from raw materials. Closely monitor and control inventories within agreed limits and meet new business opportunities as they arise.
• Prepare appropriate capital expenditure forecasts and budgets, coordinate and ensure the effective implementation of agreed capital expenditure projects, and ensure that the required return on investment is achieved or exceeded.
• Seek out and recommend ideas for improving productivity, cost-effectiveness, and consistency of product quality throughout all plants.

Qualification

• Maintain close working relationships with company technical, sales, and supply chain departments to ensure that new product requirements for existing and new customers are known, within production capabilities, and effectively introduced into production.
• Ensure that an effective organizational structure is developed and maintained, and that manpower resources are effectively utilized and allocated between departments.
• Engineering degree or equivalent with a minimum of five years of progressive, successful production/factory management experience.
• Experience in inventory, material management, and distribution in the relevant plastics industry.
• Minimum of 5 years of successful senior production management experience.
• Experience in manufacturing methods such as SPC, JIT, SQC, and computerization.
• Mature organization, administrative, personnel management, and motivational skills with a flexible approach.
• Appropriate industry experience may be substituted for academic degree.
