Mold Maker /Tool Maker (Plastic Injection Molding) - LZ1829

We are seeking a highly skilled Mold/Tool Maker to join a custom injection molding company. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in the design and construction of molds, as well as extensive experience with injection molding and tooling. This role involves the design, construction, modification, and repair of molds and tooling, ensuring that all molds meet production requirements and quality standards. The Mold/Tool Maker will work closely with engineers and production teams to support ongoing operations and ensure high-quality mold manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build, modify, and repair injection molding molds and tooling to meet production specifications. Responsible for the initial construction and subsequent modifications to molds based on engineering changes and production requirements.
• Utilize CNC lathes, milling machines, and EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) machinery to fabricate high-precision molds and tooling components. Ensure that all parts meet required tolerances and specifications.
• Possess mechanical and electrical abilities to design and specify production equipment, ensuring molds and tooling are equipped with proper functionality for smooth operation in production.
• Use high-precision measuring equipment (such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges) to ensure all molds and components meet exact specifications and tolerances.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive mold-related documentation, including design drawings, part lists, assembly instructions, and repair logs. Ensure accurate records are kept for each mold and tool for future reference.
• Identify issues with molds, tools, and equipment during production and work to troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly to minimize downtime. Perform ongoing repairs and modifications to tooling as needed.
• Use SolidWorks, Surfcam, Mastercam, or similar CAD/CAM software for mold design, modification, and programming of CNC machines. Ensure that all designs and tooling specifications are accurately reflected in the software.
• Work closely with engineers, production teams, and quality control personnel to ensure molds and tooling meet production requirements, quality standards, and deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the design and construction of molds, with extensive experience in injection molding and tooling.
• Strong mechanical and electrical abilities with the capability to design and specify production equipment. Proficient in diagnosing, repairing, and modifying molds and tooling.
• Experience with CNC lathes, milling machines, and EDM machinery. Must be able to use these tools to fabricate, modify, and repair tooling and molds with high precision.
• Ability to use high-precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure molds and parts meet exact tolerances.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, including SolidWorks, Surfcam, Mastercam, or similar programs used for mold design, tooling, and CNC programming.
• Ability to develop and maintain detailed mold and tooling documentation, ensuring that all information is accurate and accessible for future use and reference.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to identify mold and tooling issues quickly and implement effective solutions to maintain production flow.
• High attention to detail to ensure that all molds and tooling are built to specifications and that repairs and modifications are done to the highest standards of quality.
